Medical physicians and companies can either lose your health cards and insurance information or place them in the wrong hands. An identity thieve can then grab your personal information and issue health insurance under your name. These thieves are basically going to the doctor under your name and information. This is the part that could literally kill you. Let's say the records of the person that stole your identity has a different blood type on file. You being the person that needs a blood transfusion is given a different type of blood. Now this goes for any medical procedure even surgery so be very careful with protecting your medical identity.

 

The next thing is the financial aspect of the medical identity theft. A thieve could go to the doctors using your name and your billing. So they could rack up all sorts of medical bills and leave you there to pay. Now how is this for fair? Not too much. Always protect yourself from all categories of identity theft.
